Harrison Birtwistle's Melencolia I performed by English clarinettist Alan Hacker and the Scottish National Orchestra of Glasgow under the direction of Andrzej Markowski.


The Polish premiere of the work took place on 23 September 1978 at the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall as part of the 22nd Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music.
