Composer Witold Lutosławski on the stage of the Warsaw Philharmonic after the performance of his Les espaces du sommeil by the English baritone John Shirley-Quirk and the Great Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio and Television in Katowice conducted by Stanisław Wisłocki.

The Polish premiere of the work took place on 14 September 1979 at the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall during the opening concert of the 23rd Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music.
