Elżbieta and Krzysztof Penderecki in the audience during the performance of Krzysztof Penderecki's Utrenja I by soloists and the Symphony Orchestra, Mixed Choir and Boys' Choir of the Karol Szymanowski State Philharmonic in Krakow under the direction of Jerzy Katlewicz. The soloists were: Delfina Ambroziak (soprano), Krystyna Szczepańska (mezzo-soprano), Kazimierz Pustelak (tenor), Bernard Ładysz (bass), Peter Lagger (basso profondo).
The work was performed 22 September 1971 at the Saint John Cathedral in Warsaw as part of the 15th Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music.
