The performance of Krzysztof Penderecki's Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima for 52 string instruments at the 5th Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music.


The work was performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Krakow State Philharmonic under the direction of Andrzej Markowski on 22 September 1961 at the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall.
