The Polish premiere of Dmitri Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 8, Op. 110 at the 5th Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music.
The work was performed by the Borodin String Quartet (Rostislav Dubinsky - 1st violin, Yaroslav Aleksandrov - 2nd violin, Dmitri Shebalin - viola, Valentin Berlinsky - cello) on 17 September 1961 at the Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Hall.
It consists of five movements:
- Largo;
- Allegro molto;
- Allegretto;
- Requiem;
- Largo.
