American composer Douglas Leedy after the performance of his music for double bass and chamber ensemble Canti for Bert Turetzky.

The Polish premiere of the work took place 18 September 1977 at the Concert Hall of the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw during the 21st Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music.
